Séminaire du CIRED : Demand-side mitigation options of the agricultural sector : Potentials, Barriers and Ways Forward

par Arancha Sánchez - publié le , mis à jour le

Thierry Brunelle (CIRAD, CIRED) présentera ses travaux sur Demand-side mitigation options of the agricultural sector : Potentials, Barriers and Ways Forward. Le séminaire aura lieu à 11h en salle de réunion.

This paper assesses potentials and barriers of demand-side mitigation options of the agricultural sector based on a review of recent literature and a survey conducted over a sample of 800 respondents. In spite of uncertainties on the adequate protein intake and on the most relevant way to compute efficiencies of livestock products, the importance of demand-side potentials from AFOLU cannot be reasonably put into question. Our survey shows that people are relatively reluctant to eat more sustainably, preferring to reduce their emissions on other areas such as dwelling or equipment, mainly due personal perceptions linked to health concerns, taste or habits. Some barriers to change could be however easily overcome by well-designed policies.
