in Economic modelling of Environment, Energy and Climate
Topic 2018 : The role of demand and lifestyles in low carbon pathways


The Summer School duration is 5 days (from Monday july 2nd to Friday july 6th) including 4 full days and half a day on Wednesday (the afternoon will be free). Activities include lectures and conferences, participant presentations, reading and interactive sessions and a group project exercise.

Three of the five mornings will start with lectures given by members of the faculty :

  • Day 1 : The role of demand in low carbon pathways : overview (C. Guivarch)
  • Day 2 : Demand-side mitigation in Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) and scenario literature (B. Van Ruijven)
  • Day 4 : The role of behaviours and social change in low carbon pathways (C. Wilson)

During Days 1 and 2, participants will present a version of their research work (10 minutes presentation / 15-20 minutes discussion) and will receive valuable feedback from fellow students and School faculty members.


Other scheduled activities include a group project exercise (from Day 3 to 5) with restitution during final day, one paper reading session (Day 4), and two conferences (Day 1 and Day 4).


A social dinner will be organized on Day 4.
